I recently learned about this form of sterilization and I’m quite excited to pursue it. I’ve been using an IUD for 11 years, and I’ve loved it for managing my hormones/PCOS and periods . I recently did some digging and found out I may be able to keep my IUD even after sterilization, which is awesome.
Reading up on bilateral salpingectomy, I see that it is often performed laproscopically, which is excellent news. I also came across one article on some health resource that said it might be possible to perform with just local anesthetic. This would be perfect for me, as I do not have a caretaker or driver where I live now. I would be willing to deal with more pain , if it meant that I could walk or transit myself back home afterwards.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Also, I’ve been obsessively researching doctors and cross referencing my insurance. One problem I’ve run into is that almost no one actually advertises this service directly. Do you just call up the office and ask before trying to book an appointment?
