Bingoed by my Uber driver

So my mom and I called an Uber to get home from the airport last Saturday night. He shows up, has good ratings, and seems nice. He starts talking about his 5 year old daughter and we politely listen and ask questions. He finds out I’m a newlywed and asks when we are going to have kids. I gently explain that the answer is NEVER. He keeps on and on, “In my culture it’s so important to have kids. You should have at least one and then see how you feel.” Sir, you don’t know me. Why are you giving me life advice?? If I have one and then decide, that’s a little too late, isn’t it?? He was so relentless that I didn’t even put up an argument. I smiled and nodded while my mom snickered to herself . The driver even asked what my husband thought about my choice, and he was blown away when I told him my husband doesn’t want kids either. Why is it socially acceptable to jam your beliefs down my throat as a STRANGER? I stayed polite the whole time. I don’t think he had any idea how deeply uncomfortable and offended I was. I almost complained to Uber afterwards but I’m sure they don’t care.

UPDATE- After reading all the feedback from you guys, I went back and sent a message to Uber about the conversation with the driver leaving me uncomfortable, and that I was unable to successfully change the subject during the ride. It started out friendly but became unprofessional. I feel better!
